Eight producers for a film
By Behindwoods News Bureau.
May 03, 2007
The response of Cheran’s latest release Mayakannadi at the box office is not too encouraging. In all his earlier films, Cheran was successful in bringing out the emotional fervor of his characters from such a close quarters that viewers were able to relate to the story and film perfectly. He was able to strike a chord with his audience which was missing in Mayakannadi.
Cheran
In a way, he seemed to have drifted far away from his spectators which explain the film’s performance at the theatres.

It has been said that the distributors of Mayakannadi have incurred significant losses due to the poor performance of the film. They all have approached Cheran instead of producer Subbu and have requested him to make amends for their financial loss. Understanding their plight Cheran has agreed to direct his next film for them. So, the eight distributors of Mayakannadi will be the producers for Cheran’s next project Pokkisham. Hope they are able to make up their losses in this venture.
