Ever
heard the adage ‘fashion is
cyclic’? Kollywood seems to
prove the axiom, time and again. Yes,
if you have guessed it yet, we are
talking about naming movies after
old hit numbers; especially those
belonging to MGR films. After Vijay’s
Azhagiya Tamilmagan and Pachaikkili
Muthucharam that are
derived
from lyrics of MGR songs, it is S.J. Surya’s
turn now to resort to the MGR repertoire.
Though this inclination is not new for Surya who
kick started the remix fever with Thottal Poo
Malarum in New and went on to adopt the style
statements of MGR in A..Aa.., his new movie will
be one step ahead. Titled Ungal Veettu Pillai,
Surya’s next venture - after Vyabari - will
be directed by Sakthi Chidambaram.
Do not take the movie for a remake of the legendary
Engal Veettu Pillai with MGR in the lead. The
Surya starrer seems to restrict its MGR quotient
with the title.
