The trend of remixing old hit songs
– apart from cribbing the plot
from old movies – is catching
up in Kollywood. Manmadan’s
‘ennasai maidiliye’ set
an example in this genre and many
movies followed suit. In line with
the trend, Vijay starrer Pokkiri,
which is being directed by Prabhu
Deva will have the classic oldie song
‘Vasantha Mullai’ from
the movie Sarangadara – seasoned
to suit the present generation.
Pokkiri
will have the first stanza of Vasantha Mullai
blended into another song. However, Vijay stated
that the song has not been remixed and would appear
as it was in the movie – but limited to
two lines. The shoots of the song have been carried
out recently in Chennai in areas such as film
city and racecourse.
Though Prabhu Deva is renowned for his dancing
talents, seems like he will not render choreography
for Pokkiri. He will limit himself to direction
and the task of choreography has been distributed
among various dance masters. Vijay, Asin, and
Sriman were seen dancing to the steps of Dinesh
for the Vasantha Mullai song. Mani Sharma scores
