May 13, 2009

Kamal Haasan rued that his name has been deleted from the voters list. The actor said that he had been advocating the right to vote through the media but it was frustrating to note that his name was not in the voters list. The Ulaganayagan stated that he had cancelled the shooting in Hyderabad and rushed to Chennai to cast his vote. He further revealed that he had incurred a loss of Rs.10 lakhs for canceling the film shooting.

According to the actor, when the election officials visited his house for verification he was not present at home and hence his name was deleted from the list.

Director Ameer, who had been strongly voicing concern over the Sri Lankan Tamil issue, also does not find his name in the voters list. The director added that he had been voting at the KK Nagar in Madurai till the last elections.
