A dead whale shark reportedly washed ashore on the Pamban Beach in Rameswaram on Monday. The carcass of the whale is said to be 28 feet long and expected to weigh around 15,000 kg. Notably, a similar whale was found on the shores of Puri Beach in Odisha in April. The whale shark has been listed 'vulnerable' by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN).
