The third phase of Assembly elections began on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh for 69 Assembly constituencies. BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Mulayam Singh’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav’s uncle Shivpal Yadav are among the prominent faces contesting in this phase. Notably, SP had won 55 of these 69 seats, while BSP, BJP and Congress secured just six, five and two respectively, in the 2012 Assembly elections.
