According to reports, Virat Kohli would have stepped down as the Indian team's captain if Anil Kumble had not resigned as the team's head coach. "Kohli had been adamant that Kumble couldn't continue as the head coach and that the Board needed to look for a replacement. Had the Board gone ahead and implemented Sachin, Sourav and Laxman's recommendation to stick with Kumble, then Kohli would almost surely have resigned", The Telegraph reports said.
