Farmers protest turns violent

A protest by farmers against the proposed airport at Newali, Maharashtra reportedly turned violent on Thursday. According to reports, over 12 policemen, 12 farmers and two journalists have been injured from the violence. A police officer reportedly said the protesters started burning tyres and later pelted stones at passing motorists and policemen. Following this, a 'quick response team' was rushed to the spot to quell the protest.
