After Selaiyur Raju’s ‘experiment’ with thermocol to prevent dam water from getting evaporated, Environmental minister KC Karuppannan reportedly claimed that the water in Noyyal river got polluted not because of industrial waste but because of domestic usage of soap. In an interview after inspecting the river, the minister reportedly said, "The soap that we all use mixed with the water, causing foam for two days, now the water is clean. We could not find any industrial waste mixing with the river."
