A man allegedly murdered his daughter-in-law as he wanted his son to remarry so that they could get more dowry in Mannargudi. The victim, Divya, a Chartered Accountant, was reportedly tortured and harassed by her husband, Elan Cheran and in-laws for dowry for four years after she was married in 2013. Divya's father-law, along with other men named Shivakumar and Senthil, hit her and suffocated her to death using a pillow. Police have arrested the victim's husband, his parents and two accomplices.
