38 people were held by the Chennai city police in Marina beach on Monday when they tried to protest the death of Gauri Lankesh. Gauri Lankesh was a senior journalist who was allegedly shot dead on September 5. Reportedly, activists and academicians were arrested near the Gandhi statue as they declined to leave the place. They were arrested and let go later. According to media reports, the protestors claim that protest for Gauri is happening all over the country and there is no interference by police anywhere else.
