Ransomware virus strikes India

Ransomware, a virus that affected over 45,000 computers in at least 74 countries since Friday evening, has reportedly attacked over 100 systems of the Andhra Pradesh police. Gulshan Rai, Director General of the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), confirmed the attack and said systems using the Windows operating system have been affected. Rai added that the real magnitude of the damage will be known once offices reopen on Monday and systems are turned on.
