Lt Gen Othman al-Ghanimi, Iraq army's chief of staff on Thursday reportedly said that security forces are only days away from recapturing Mosul from the Islamic State. Othman also reportedly said that the jihadist group would be defeated in the city before the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Notably, Ramadan begins on 26 May.
