Since the Goods and Service Tax was rolled out on July 1, the LPG cooking gas rate was raised up to Rs 32 more this month due to the twin impact of GST and a reduction in subsidy. The increase will depend on the gap between the GST rate and prevalent tax in states that levied VAT. Notably, LPG has been put in the 5% GST slab, earlier which was 2%.
