The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal on Wednesday upheld a tax demand raised on a Rs 642.54 crore investment by a US network in Indian news broadcasting media NDTV in 2008. The I-T department has alleged that NDTV tried to evade Rs 218.30 crore tax and demanded a penalty of Rs 436.8 crore. Meanwhile, NDTV has claimed that it would continue to fight the misguided case whose order has been passed with inconsistencies.
