According to data by the Ministry of Defence, at least one Indian soldier from the Army, Navy or Air Force commits suicide every three days. From January 1, 2014, to March 31, 2017, alone, as many as 348 soldiers committed suicide while on duty, say reports. However, most of the suicides were due to personal reasons, including land disputes in the soldiers’ hometowns, the ministry reportedly said.
