IBM owned 'The Weather Company' on Monday launched India's first internet-free weather alert platform. The platform uses a "mesh network" to send critical weather alerts. The technology  works by linking the nearby mobile phones to increase the signal. The internet-free weather alert is expected to come in handy during severe weather events and disasters.
