Groom detained after hiring 200 fake guests

Police arrested a groom, surnamed Wang, on suspicion of fraud after he hired hundreds of people to stand in as relatives and guests at a wedding as his parents didn't approve of the union. The incident took place at the banquet ceremony in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province of China, on Sunday. The bride, surnamed Liu, said she and her relatives became suspicious at the 600-guest affair after Wang's parents failed to show up. “I suspect [the people I met] weren't his parents either. They're all con artists,” she added.
