Air India to offer voluntary buyouts to over 15,000 employees

According to reports, India’s flagship aircraft carrier Air India will propose to offer voluntary buyouts to 15,000 of its 40,000 employees. Reportedly, this would be among the largest such proposals in India's state sector, as the carrier slashes cost ahead of a 2018 sale. Notably, the government has given in-principle approval for disinvestment of the airline, which is facing a Rs 52,000 crore debt.
