The government on Tuesday proposed that Aadhaar number will be made mandatory for filing returns and PAN applications from July 1. Further, it added that PAN cards must be linked to the 12-digit unique Aadhaar identification number. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said PAN cards that are not linked to Aadhaar would be deemed to be invalid.
