DABANGG 3 CAST & CREW
Production: Arbaaz Khan Productions, Saffron Broadcast & Media Limited, Salman Khan Films Cast: Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sudeep Direction: Prabhu Deva Screenplay: Prabhu Deva, Salman Khan Story: Salman Khan Music: Sajid-Wajid Background score: Sajid-Wajid Cinematography: Mahesh Limaye

Under the finance of Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Nikhil Dwivedi, the admirable cop Chulbul Pandey (Chulbul Pandian in Tamil) has returned to do the thing he does best. Entertain. Directed by the 'Indian Micheal Jackson' Prabhu Deva, the film features Sonakshi Sinha, Sudeep, Arbaaz Khan and Saiee Manjrekar in prominent roles.

As seen in many of his other films, director Prabhu Deva excels in garnishing scenes with amiable side-humor effortlessly. This very factor has helped in keeping the audience engaged in the movie through the first-half. Dabangg 3 tells the story of our super-strong protagonist, before when he was a cop and what made him become one.

The first-half is majorly composed of the flash-back sequences in which the young Salman (Thanga Tamizh Pandian) falls in love with a girl (played by Saiee Manjrekar) who eventually gives him goals, love, and the popular nickname (Chulbul) of his too. However, their love is shattered due to Bala Singh, (played by Sudeep) a powerful racketeer who develops feelings for the same girl, which ultimately end things tragically.

What happens when this wealthy hoodlum returns to cause trouble now? Well, Chulbul Pandey gets into action. And that makes the rest of the story. The film is made for Salman's fans to enjoy in theatres and it delivers what is expected from the fans. Yes, the story is transparent and there are no enigmatic blocks or thrilling sequences, but nevertheless, it is engaging with timely humor and screen presence of the lead characters.

There isn't anything 'new' in this flick and it is cliched. But, it is a cliche that is well-presented. If you usually avoid films in Tamil dubbing, (due to the unnecessary references and counters) give this a try, as it gels perfectly due to the jolly tone of the film. The humorous and quick dialogues that almost synch with the actors' lips are one of the big reasons why this film is enjoyable in Tamil. Kudos to the Tamil dialogue writers who have done a clean job.

Sudeep's subtle villainess and powerful screen-presence is a solid factor that added weight to the mediumly built conflict in the plot. Despite less screen-time and scope, Sonakshi Sinha and Saiee Manjrekar do justice to their roles. Rajesh Sharma scores well as the constantly confused MLA. The anti-humor between him and his assistant works big time. Sajid-Wajid's BGM's are satisfactory and enhances the 'mass' scenes. The continuous song sequences feel forced sometimes and slow down the screenplay. Crispier edit would have made the film feel more tightly packed.

Overall, Dabangg 3 is a typical but good rounded commercial film that is enhanced with the quirky character and macho of Salman, along with the commanding screen-presence of Sudeep. The in-built humour and the hilarious Tamil dialogues make this an enjoyable watch despite all the predictable factors.

Verdict: Dabangg 3 is a commercial action film that will appeal to the masses, with a mix of humour and good performances.
