more Taboo for actresses

was once a belief
that if you played
mother, sister or
sister-in-law, your
market was on the
downswing. Only actresses
past their prime accepted
such roles. Nowadays,
there is a
perceptible
change in the mindset
of the actresses. They
accept roles as long
as they are convincing
and important to the
story. The young actress
Ravali plays the elder
sister to Sindhu Tolani
in a Kannada film. National
award winner Suhasini
plays Dhanush’s
mother in Asokamitran
and Kushboo will appear
as Sibiraj’s mother
in Vetrivel, Sakthivel.
Well, it is quite heartening
to see this trend as
actresses break out
of the egoistic mould.
