This Haryanvi beauty is presently acting in Sanjay Chhel's directorial venture Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam. The story revolves around a theatre group, which performs a play titled Mughal-e-Azam, not the epic; in which Mallika and Paresh Rawal play theatre artistes. Sanjay wanted to make sure Mallika got her nuances of a theatre artiste right and to ensure that, he took her to the Prithvi Theatre Festival and even asked her to attend a workshop. The others in the cast include Paresh Rawal, Rahul Bose as a CBI officer and K K Menon as Ghazal singer and all of them have the necessary theatre experience except Mallika. Being an enthusiastic actress that she is, Mallika readily agreed and is all gung-ho about the project.
