Hello sir. Why was the break between your first film Samurai and Kadal?

My first film Samurai with Vikram in the lead became a flop and the producer of the film suffered a severe stroke because of that. On hearing my defeat, no one came forward to give me another chance to prove myself if not for Director Shankar sir. He had immense faith in me and gave me a chance in his own film.


While doing a film, which was about to decide your career, how come you were able to put your faith in a bunch of new face actor – actress’?

Every director should be given the freedom to decide what is best for his film. In my opinion a bunch of new faces proved good for my film, so I used them. Similarly every director should be given the freedom to decide what is good for their films. If, such freedom is given to them, then they can also be successful like me.
