We start 2016 with a typical love story strapped with quintessential family drama elements. Will Nenu Sailaja be the ideal New Year outing for Ram and his team? Take a sneak peek to know!

The film starts off with a childhood story of the leads which doesn’t make any impact nor does it add any value to the proceeding of the film later. However, it slightly does help to establish the character of Sailaja (Keerthi Suresh), the female lead of the film. Sailaja is a very soft and sweet girl, someone who likes to keep all her pains and sorrows within her. Just when she finds a perfect companion (hero) who understands her better than anyone else, this stoic characteristic of hers pushes her into an emotional tangle that leads to a series of complications. And that is when the protagonist steps into the occasion.

Love stories laced with family bonds and emotions will always be lapped by the audience no matter how repetitive it may be. But even for such films, the screenplay needs to be knitted well. Here you don’t have too many reasons to complain about its screenplay, but however a lot of things are so force fitted which take the soul out of the film. There are a couple of fights that are absolutely unnecessary, especially the pre-climax fight. There are many emotional bonding scenes too, while a couple of those could really move you, most of them seemed forced.

Coming to the lead of the film, Ram Pothineni as Hari gives a conventional performance. Hari is the stereotypical hero that you find in 9 out of 10 south Indian masala films, someone who flatters whoever he meets, in a fraction of a second, someone who does only good deeds. Ram has tried his best to give life to this clichéd, worn out character.

Keerthi Suresh is so adorable and she does a pretty neat job too. The supporting artists that comprise the likes of Sathyaraj, Rohini, Pradeep Rawat among others, have all been given sufficient space to perform and since it is melodramatic family drama, they also get their fair chance to weep.

‘Crazy Feeling’ is easily the most hummable and enjoyable track from the film. Devi Sri Prasad has also used the rhythm of this song as BGM during the first half, when the film offers some fun for the viewers. And during the later stages of the film, when it gets melodramatic, DSP sticks to his template emotional BGM that you find in his other films.

Verdict: Nenu Sailaja is a decently made family entertainer which is predictable from the very word go.
