Thaakka Thaakka offers a hard-hitting story line and topnotch action sequences but are they contagious enough to beguile the crowd’s attention over its run time of close to 2 and a half hours?. The film aims to be a concoction of masala elements - action, romance, comedy and sentiment keeping a topical theme - sexual slavery as its base.

The story is glazed with the usual concept of love, women trafficking and friendship, but the treatment is not very formulaic which happens to be the strength of the film. Particularly the director surprises you at few places where he tries to break the run of the mill type clichéd scenes. But on the downside, the film moves at a sluggish pace right through, even though it has smacky thrilling scenes here and there.

The focal point of the film would obviously be the fight scenes. They are very well choreographed and nicely executed as well. Likewise Sujith Sarang’s cinematography is a major plus, his camera work comprehends the action sequences and adds zest to the output.

The movie actually starts pretty well with good intensity, but gets a little dramatic towards the mid-way mark and loses its shape. Sentiment part, at times, looks a little cheesy and non-realistic. Even the comedies don’t work much, expect a few giggle moments.

Vikranth’s performance is pretty decent and he scores high in action sequences; his body language and mannerism does look like an action hero. Abinaya does a close to neat job barring her odd lip-sync issues. Aravinnd Singh (cinematographer of Demonte Colony) who plays Vikranth's friend makes a decent debut and Arul Dass, as the antagonist is in perfect sync with his role. Bose Venkat is impressive even with his limited scope for performance. None of the other actors make a huge impact.

Screenplay happens to be the main villain for the film as it hinders the film's flow. Even though the film features only three songs, they act as a speedbreaker to the film, particularly the first two songs in the first half. Jakes Bejoy however does a decent job when it comes to the background score.

On the whole what promises to be a thrilling action film looses track mid-way.
Verdict: A decent action thriller with pace issues
