Sivakarthikeyan christened 'Inbamana Imsai Arasan' by Sathyaraj - Event Story

Jun 12, 2013

The first look press meet of Siva Karthikeyan’s Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam was held in a very grand manner at the ITC Grand Chola Hotel in Chennai. Escape Artists Motion Pictures’ P.Madan welcomed the gathering before the other team members spoke at length about their experience working in the movie.

The numerous stills of the movie that were showcased at the venue proved that the movie was a colorful rural entertainer. Sathyaraj looked majestic riding a bullet with his gang of supporters while Siva, Suri and co. represent the Sangam who have no worries whatsoever. The heroine Sridivya comes across as the typically pretty village damsel who charms the hero.

Sathyaraj’s speech was a crowd pleaser and he called Siva Karthikeyan an ‘Inbamana Imsai Arasan’ and predicted a long and exciting career for him in the industry. He expected this movie to be a bigger hit than Siva’s earlier hits so far. Siva is also very knowledgeable about the history of cinema and impressed Sathyaraj many a time by using his own famous dialogs in a much better manner than what he did earlier.

Sathyaraj was proud of the director Ponram and thanked director Rajesh for introducing such a talent to the industry. He had actually rejected this offer when the director had narrated the script to him till the first half but after the second half’s narration, he fell in love with the script and was adamant about doing it.

Sathyaraj was also mighty impressed by Siva and Suri’s creativity and spontaneity and enjoyed working with these two youthful actors. The veteran actor was sure that the movie would attract repeat audience at the theaters just for the sake of the dialogs in the movie.

Among the 5 songs in the movie, many spoke highly about the number ‘Oodha Color Ribbon’ scored by Imman and penned by Yugabharathi. Another song ‘Paakadha’ was also trumped to become popular in the coming days after the music releases.

The heroine Sridivya was pretty nervous as she couldn’t muster enough words on the stage. She thanked the team and also earned the crew’s applause for having worked in the movie without any prior experience or understanding of Tamil.

Imman said that he felt Siva was looking more handsome with each passing movie and that after seeing the footages of a couple of songs, he called up Siva and said ‘Thambi, romba azhagaite poreenga’

Cinematographer Balasubramaniam was appreciated for giving the movie a grand and colorful look and making the lead actors look attractive on screen.

‘Parotta’ Suri lauded Siva for being a friendly and cooperative co-star and was also happy about getting a chance to work with the ‘Man with the Midas touch’ Rajesh, who is writing the dialogs for this movie. The director Ponram had also given total freedom to Suri to improvise.

He also vowed to show footages of this movie to his wife as he believed that DOP Balasubramaniam had shown him in a very attractive manner on screen. He also felt honored about working with Sathyaraj as he had enjoyed many of his movies as a fan.

Siva Karthikeyan believed that this was a pioneering initiative by the producers to have such a grand first look unveiling event. He also said on behalf of the team that they felt honored to work with Sathyaraj at a time when he is becoming really choosy and expanding his boundaries to other industries. It was more than a dream come true for Siva to share the screenspace with Sathyaraj and get to mouth some of his legendary dialogs of yore.

He cheekily said that since the heroine was from Andhra and had no knowledge of Tamil, the unit couldn’t converse much with her, save one of the assistants, who earned the envy of the entire unit. He also proudly took the credit for recommending Sathyaraj’s name for this role and felt that only he could do this role so convincingly.

M.Rajesh commented that Siva was a complete hero now after what he did in Ethir Neechal and in this movie, he has even tried his hand at action. Ponram is among Rajesh’s close friends and the two worked together on the script and the dialogs of the movie. Both of them were assisting SAC before starting off on their own and after seeing the rushes of the movie at the editing table, Rajesh confidently admitted that the movie will be a really enjoyable treat.

Director Ponram said that the movie was 75 % complete and one song was left to be composed. He was confident about his work in the movie and thanked his crew for bettering his work with their valuable feedback.
