PVP Cinema identifies Tamil Cinema's God Father and Don - Event Story

Mar 27, 2013

The audio launch of Thiru Kumaran Entertainments’ third project, Soodhu Kavvum, by debutant and short film maker turned feature film director Nalan Kumarasamy happened today, 27th March, at Satyam Cinemas, Chennai amidst the presence of a number of producers like ‘UTV’ Dhananjayan, Srinivasan, T Siva and Vijay Kamineni. Also present was the entire crew of Pizza and Attakathi.

Producer Srinivasan started the proceedings by singing praise of CV Kumar. He recollected that RB Chowdhery used to introduce a lot of new comers back then. “But now CV Kumar has taken over the job and doing an incredible job”, he added.

Dhananjayan wished luck for both Vijay Sethupathy and CV Kumar for their third consecutive hits, whereas, ‘Amma Creations’ T Siva had an interesting point to make. Siva feels that there are a lot of qualities from CV Kumar that the senior producers of the industry should learn. “Kumar has proved that he is a master in creating huge hits with small budgets,” noted the head of Amma Creations.

PVP Cinemas’ Vijay Kamineni, who was also present at the launch, mentioned Studio Green Gnanavelraja and CV Kumar as the Godfather and the Don of Tamil cinema respectively.

An ecstatic Vijay Sethupathy, the hero of Soodhu Kavvum divulged an interesting detail about the film. He says he was spell bound by the story’s lead character Das and desperately wanted to do the role. But, director Nalan just wouldn’t accept. So, Vijay had to request Pizza director Karthik Subbaraj and CV Kumar to recommend him to Nalan. After a lot of convincing, the Pizza guy bagged the part. Later, he says he felt bad for using his influence to get the part and supposedly told Nalan that he would step down from the role if he (Nalan) isn’t really happy. But, by that time Nalan had already made up his mind and was pretty sure that Vijay would be perfect for the part.

Finally, debutant Nalan thanked all the people who made it to the event and thanked them for their kind wishes. Prior to the wrap up, the first copy of the album was released by all the guests and was received by Soodhu Kavvum team.
