I am proud of Vijay

With makers hell bent on generating buzz about their films before their release, novel ways of film events are beginning to form. The audio launch of Thandavam is an example. Earlier, a Twitter contest selected 2000 fans who were made to participate in a variety of games on the Independence Day including balloon shooting and mechanical bull. The selected winners were then provided entry into the audio launch event and were also gifted with audiio CDs of the movie.

The audio release, held at Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam yesterday, August 15th, witnessed attendance from many kingpins of the industry including director Priyadarshan, actor Karthi and suchlike. Priyadarshan, who arrived first to speak, mentioned that although he had done 83 movies in different languages and received many awards, his assistant Vijay's accomplishments make him prouder. "I am happy that Vijay is making a name for himself in Tamil and I am proud of him," he said. Vijay used to assist Priyan in many movies.

Karthi, who spoke next, said that he is in awe of Vikram. "He seamlessly slips into many roles easily I am so much in awe with him," he said. Vikram, who took to the stage, was requested by his fans to sing. Vikram, after mentioning that the movie would be enjoyable for all walks of the audience, proceeded to sing a few lines of the song 'oru kadavai.' Jagapathy Babu, who is also part of the Thandavam star cast, mentioned that although he studied in Chennai he settled in Hyderabad now. He hoped that Thandavam would bring him back to Chennai and Tamil films.

GV Prakash and his troupe of musicians performed seven songs from the album. The audio was subsequently released by Bala, Lingusamy, Vasanthabalan and Bharat.
