Maanadu is an upcoming film that has STR playing the lead role alongside upcoming actress Kalyani Priyadarshan. The film is helmed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner V House Productions. The film was announced late in 2018, and from then on, the fans have been waiting for an official update.
Well, here is a news that will surely excite the fans. The film will go on floors in May 2019, and Simbu will also start shooting for the project. This was confirmed by Venkat Prabhu on his Twitter page, where he posted a picture along with the actor.

It must also be noted that STR has worked really hard for this film, as he reduced 13 kgs within a span of 37 days, after training in London. His manager, Hariharan took to Twitter to reveal this saying: "I am a staunch critic of #STR & there are times that we fight over certain issues. But am super happy with his commitment. In a span of 37 days he shredded 13 Kgs. Fact is he didn’t go for easier options like steroids/ fat burner/ surgery. He wanted to put effort & hard work."
STR was last seen in Mani Ratnam's multi-starrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, that saw him act alongside Aravind Swami, Arun Vijay, Vijay Sethupathi, Jyothika, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aishwarya Rajesh and Dayana Erappa. That was followed by Sundar C's Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven, opposite Megha Akash, Catherine Tresa and Mahat.
