WITH 13,000 A TEAM BAGS 13 AWARDS!

“A bunch of youngsters who had no past experience in filmmaking decide to make a short film” - Sounds normal? The highlight in this normal scenario is that this short film titled as Muse manages to win 13 awards including the Behindwoods Gold Medal special mention in 2015. To add to this list, Muse has been shortlisted for the 63rd National Film Awards, Non-feature category.  The team self financed themselves and spent only 13,000 to make this film.

Debutante director Kannan, while we contacted to congratulate him on this milestone, tells us how the Behindwoods Gold Medal (BGM) helped him get to the spot he is at right now.

“After winning the special mention award at the BGM, I was made to narrate a script to ace producer CV Kumar as promised. I was glad that he gave me his time and obliged to share some insights about how the production end works with respect to filmmaking. I also had the privilege of learning some pre-production work from Thirukumaran entertainment within the short time of my association with the production house.

Later, Dhananjayan sir of BOFTA voluntarily got in touch with me by getting my contact from Behindwoods. He is a great man and a very humble person. He sat down and discussed films with me which helped me learn a lot. BOFTA also acquired the rights of Muse from me and sent the film to many festivals. This time, I am more than happy for having my film in the short list of the 63rd National Film Awards, Non-feature category. What more can a first timer ask for? “

Muse was based on a sensitive issue of prostitution in our country. Keeping that as the background, Kannan had some bold views to share with his audience. He is currently working on another pilot film that is based on travelling. The team plans to shoot in 14 different locations and the young crew is on their look out for a producer.
