Sethumadhavan talks about his experience watching Uriyadi

Uriyadi is a political thriller that released on the 27th of May. It is receiving positive reviews from critics and the audience who got an opportunity to watch it. Behindwoods spoke to popular film critic, Sethumadhavan who was involved in an appreciable gesture in making a show run in a theatre by purchasing extra tickets on Sunday 29th May. It is appreciable as even a single show counts a lot for a small film like this.

“This incident happened at a single theatre called Aurora that is situated at Matunga, Mumbai. It is a screen that focuses more on regional films and currently two Tamil films, one Malayalam and one Hindi film is being screened there. Uriyadi was scheduled for the 10 am show  and the lady at the ticket counter insisted that only upon the sales of at least 10 tickets the show will happen. I spotted three others who were keen about watching the film and one among them came forward to buying extra tickets to make the show happen. I was also ready for that and we managed to buy extras summing up to 10 tickets. That is when the manager informed us that even 10 tickets were not enough. He insisted on a sales of 20 tickets. We negotiated and the manager came up to 12 tickets and we obliged. Finally when we entered the hall, I could count 9 heads including mine. While negotiating we sensed the delay of the show which might affect the schedule of the following film too. So we offered to even see the film without an interval and went up to offering to watch without an Ac too. That is the level of interest that we had in watching this film. I really liked the film and wish more people were aware about a product like this.

Such situations are purely due to the lack of awareness created by the makers. Clashing with a star film like Idhu Namma Aalu is also a crucial move”.

It sure is an inspiring incident and hope the film reaches the deserving spot on the victory table.
