Nivetha Pethuraj on her Telugu debut film Mental Madhilo

Nivetha Pethuraj of Oru Naal Koothu fame has completed the shooting for her maiden Telugu film. She sheds light on this project and also about her other films in an exclusive chat with behindwoods.

Telugu debut
I am debuting in Telugu with a film titled Mental Madhilo directed by Vivek Athreya with Sri Vishnu as the hero.

My role
I play a strong girl called Swetcha. Actually the team had seen an interview video of mine and called stating that this is what Swetcha all about. They had not even seen my film. I did not have to act in this film as it is very close to my persona in real life. In fact, on the last day, people told me to get out of my character.

Fast pace
We worked very fast to an extent that we did not even take time to sit in the caravan. In fact, I felt sick on one of the days but just took off for half a day only. I started on the 14th January and wrapped it a few days ago in Goa.

Exam preparation
As soon as I joined the sets, I started reading as though I was preparing for my exams. I don’t know Telugu and the very first day, I had to shoot the climax portion. I had to mug up nine pages of dialogue for it. It was literally like preparing for the exams and to be honest I had never studied like this even in my real life! But the unit was very supportive and confident about me.

Speaking my lines
On the first day, they told that I have to dub for myself. So, I started working towards it. At the end of the day, I was taught on the modulation, the way to speak the lines, etc. In that sense, it was a learning experience.  Since I had a lot of dialogues I am able to speak a little bit of Telugu now. I am looking forward to dub for the film. I am sure it is going to be loved by everybody.

Tik Tik Tik
I am done with Swetcha and will be beginning Swati (Tik Tik Tik) from 15th February and will go on till 31st March. I will be shooting at a stretch for this film for 45 days.

Poduvaaga En Manasu Thangam
Dubbing and a song remain to be canned. It should be done by April.

Other projects
I had got a lot of calls from big banners in Telugu and also a few Tamil films. But I want to take it slow and one by one. As I have been telling, I am not in a tearing hurry to accept every project that comes my way. I want to go slow and steady.
