During one of his concerts, Ilayaraja was asked to sing the song ‘Maanguyile Poonguyile’ in different modulations. When he was asked how his son Yuvan Shankar Raja would have performed the song, Ilayaraja surprised everyone.
Being a sport, he imitated Yuvan Shankar Raja and sung the song, imitating Yuvan’s style of music. Ilayaraja sung the song with beats and gave a ‘pop-song’ touch to it, ending it in style. His performance was followed by a thunderous applause from the audience.
