Yuvan speaks about his emotional journey before his conversion to Islam. "Many, many people have asked me when was the moment I chose Islam, but it is difficult to pinpoint one moment, as it was a journey. When the talks were going on stating that the apocalypse will come, the world was going to end and things like that, I used to ask my mum whether it was true. It was during that time I was looking up at different religions of the world."

"It was that time I took up the reading of Quran - and within two hours, I understood I couldn't grasp the matter. I am being straightforward, the first time I read Quran I felt it was too harsh. Later on, much later, after my mom died, a friend had got me a prayer mat from Mecca, and told me whenever I was unhappy or sad, I could just sit down on the mat and it will be effective in driving away the sadness."

"One day, after I got reminded of my mom, the first thing I saw after the conversation was the long-forgotten mat, and then the forwarded picture indicating Allah. Then I took the mat, sat down and started crying and was muttering - "Please forgive me for my sins Allah!""

That was like the turning point of my life, Yuvan says. "A turning point is a deep, emotional experience. Then I again I started reading the scripture and again felt it was harsh. Then only I realized when the creator of this universe speaks to us through the holy book, it is bound to be so."
