"I DIDN’T KNOW WHY RAJINI SIR WANTED TO AVOID THAT PARTICULAR SCENE AND LATER UNDERSTOOD THE REASON"

In an exclusive interview with Behindwoods, Shobana opened up about her acting and dance career in depth. She also spoke about the experience of working with stars like Rajini sir,  Mammootty sir and Mani Ratnam sir at a very young age.

Speaking about ‘Thalapathi’, she said “Entire credit for the success of ‘Thalapathi’ should go to Mani sir, Rajini sir and Mammukka. I played a very small part and I’m glad that the audience liked it. I actually cried during the shooting, as I was only 20 years old and hadn’t been home for a very long time. It is the only film during which I cried.”

When asked about her experience with Rajini, Shobana said “He is a very courteous person, on and off the screen. During the filming of our movie ‘Shiva’, there was actually a scene where Rajini sir had to hold my feet. He was a bit hesitant to have that scene and asked if it could be avoided. Later, after convincing, he did the scene. I was actually curious, as to why Rajini sir was hesitant. He is a big actor and I didn’t know back then as to why he wanted to avoid that particular scene.”

“Later, after the release of the film, Rajini sir’s fans had a big problem with that. I started getting hate mails, saying how Thalaivar can hold my feet. He knew all this and that’s when I understood the reason behind his hesitation. He is an amazing and courteous person,” said Shobana.
