In an interaction with the gathered audience during the Sharjah International Book Fair, Megastar Mammootty was surprised by a fan who asked him to become a more friendly person like Mohanlal. The fan pointed out that Mammootty has an arrogant image among fans unlike Mohanlal who is known to be friendly.

It is well known that beneath the rough exterior, Mammootty is a fun loving and soft hearted person. There have been instances in the past when many of his co-workers, including stars and technicians pointed this out in their interviews and speeches. Mammootty instantly replied that it is the public who should change their mindset, which  was greeted with a loud applause.
