Villain actor Suresh on his debut film Thara Thappattai and director Bala

Suresh started his career in the film industry through distribution, having distributed films like Sattai, Paradesi, and Soodhu Kavvum to name some. He has also produced 6 candles and Salim. However, he has taken an all new avatar now, debuting as a villain in Bala’s Thara Thappattai (TT). He explains about how he was roped in TT and his work experience with Bala.

“I had completed a course in acting and had waited for almost 12 years to make my entry through Bala sir’s film. My teachers have told me that I have a peculiar face and body language and that if I work for an established director, I will be utilized properly.  After Paradesi, I met Bala sir and expressed my desire to be featured in his film. After 3 months, he asked me to grow a beard and I had that for one and a half years. Then he called me and did the test shoot and said I am the villain in his film.

I cannot describe in words about how it was to work with Bala sir. The experience is equal to acting in 10 films, not just for me but for any artist.  He is like a university that will mould artists. One can learn so much from him, from timing to body language to dialogue delivery. Even if you go on to work in other films, there would always be Bala’s effect on you. For me it was an experience of a lifetime.

Bala will not appreciate openly, but the maximum that you will see is a subtle smile if he is happy with your work. In one of the shots, when I finished it in one take, he just said, ‘avlo dhaan daa nadippu’ and left. This is enough for me”.

Suresh is also the baddie in Vishal’s Marudhu directed by Muthiah and will be starting the shoot soon.  Here is wishing Suresh the very best in his acting career!
