IS KAAKKA MUTTAI IN THE OSCAR RACE?

Director Manikandan’s Kaakka Muttai has been reaping laurels both nationally and internationally. The latest news is that the film has been selected for the prestigious Oscar awards.

When behindwoods contacted the director, this is what he had to say, “Film Federation of India (FFI) selects the country’s official entry in the Best Foreign Film category and veteran actor Amol Palekar has been chosen as the Chairman of India’s Oscar jury by FFI. The team has watched 45 films so far which includes Kaakka Muttai, Rajamouli’s Baahubali, Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider, Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom, Neeraj Ghaywan’s Massan, and Aamir Khan’s PK. As of now Kaakka Muttai is shortlisted. The final list will be announced on the 25^th of September when we will know the Oscar contenders from India”.
