Demonte Colony Director Ajay Gnanamuthu speaks about the splendid response to the film
DeMonte Colony is the current craze in town and the director of the film, Ajay Gnanamuthu, a former assistant of A.R.Murugadoss, is the cynosure of all eyes for having come out with an unrelenting horror thriller with very few compromises. Kaushik.L.M chats with Ajay about the feedback for the film and few other technical elements which stood out.

"The response has been totally unexpected. Shows are being increased in multiplexes like Mayajaal and we are also being moved to bigger screens all over. The screen count started at around 250 and now we have close to 280 screens all over TN. Many housefull shows."

Regarding the splendid usage of Dolby Atmos for the film

"We were a bit hurried due to shortage of time but using Dolby Atmos for sound mixing, was part of the plan right from the start. Since most of the second half happens within a room, we had to play around with sound and make sure that the audience doesn't find it monotonous within the room. Also with the rain and the wind aspects in the story, Atmos helped us a lot."

About the scenic aerial shots of Chennai's coast

"We wanted to give a visual relief to the audience, apart from just the room and the indoor settings. We used helicam and drones for these shots and they have worked really well. And we maintained a rainy, windy mood for the entire story which happens in a span of 2 days and didn't give any visual distractions."

On the mind-blowing BGM work in the film

"Chinna is a really senior person and along with Keba, he did it majorly within a span of 8 to 10 days. The BGM is being highly spoken about by all."

"I want to just soak in the reviews and reactions for the first 2 or 3 days. It is the result of hard work spanning 6 months or so."

Congrats to Ajay and team for creating such an impact.
