Vijay to Shankar - ''What brother? You've asked, how will I not come?''

Nov 23, 2014

The grand audio launch of S Pictures' latest venture, Kappal happened yesterday. The event had big names - Shankar, Vijay, Vikram, AR Rahman - gracing the occasion. Here is an excerpt from Shankar's speech on Vijay and Vikram.

On Vikram:

I just don't have any words to explain his dedication. He's been dubbing back to back in three languages for I. He is dead-tired actually. One of the nicest human beings I have come across in life. I call him Mr. Steel. He started off as a dubbing artist. He was the one who voiced for Prabhu Deva in Kadhalan. Now for I, he's dubbed in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, all by himself. Especially for the hunchback role, he had to literally hold his throat real tight, so as to emote for the character properly. He could barely talk post the dubbing sessions. Now he is here, dressed all nice and smiling before us. Post Anniyan, he almost became one in our family. I go to his family functions and he comes to mine. This is one such event he has come for, just on my request. More than me, he's worked so hard for I. At least for him, the film should become a success.

On Vijay:

Vijay is actually busy with the Chimbudevan project. I called and asked if he could come for the launch. His immediate reply was, "Okay na'. I was shocked. I just asked him once and he right-away said okay. He told me, "What brother? You've asked, how will I not come? From the Nanban days, he's become my Nanban. Thanks to him for making this event really special.
