Aranmanai is a rare box-office exception

Sundar C is a master when it comes to commercial cinema and he has delivered many hits over his career spanning close to two decades. He has worked with almost all the big superstars and has also done well to utilize the services of highly talented comedians such as Goundamani, Senthil, Vadivelu, Vivek and currently Santhanam.

His latest Aranmanai, his first attempt at horror comedy, has been met with a great reception at the box-office. The film is in its 4th week now and is still holding on to a major chunk of shows not just in multiplexes but also in single screens.

For example, in Chennai city, where single screens like Ganapathyram, Kasi, Sri Brindha, Idreams, Bharath and Maharani, generally don't hold on to a film for more than a couple of weeks even if it is a big superstar movie, Aranmanai is still holding court in its 4th week in these centers with a couple of shows each. Dhanush's Velai Illa Pattathari also saw a similarly extended positive response earlier this year.

With Diwali still more than a week away, Aranmanai is likely to extend its hold on the box-office.
