Sep 11, 2013
Director Ponram's Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam has had a really healthy opening weekend and the movie has grossed a handsome amount at the box-office after the first 4 days.

The rising popularity of lead man Siva Karthikeyan, the festive release time, the extensive marketing campaigns of the producers Escape Artists Motion Pictures and importantly the good word of mouth for the movie, have resulted in this handsome opening at the box-office. We have the figures of VVS's opening from some of the important circuits in Tamil Nadu.

Chennai City and surrounding areas - After the first 4 days, the total gross stands at 2.16 crores. Such a number is generally seen only for the big mass hero films and this is by far Siva Karthikeyan's best opening till date. The occupancies were hovering around the 75% mark across the first 4 days.

Pondicherry - From a total of 4 theaters - Jiiva (Big Cinemas), Raja, Muruga and Balaji, VVS has grossed an amount of more than 24 lakhs. Mr. Pazhanivel, the manager at a prominent theater in Pondicherry says "The occupancy had been hovering around the 80% mark cumulatively, over the Friday to Monday period. The movie has been able to manage a lot of repeat audiences as well with even ladies coming to the theaters in a swarm. A lot of fans had to return home disappointed as they couldn't get tickets on Sunday evening and on Monday."

South Arcot - From a total of 15 theaters in this circuit, VVS has grossed 20 lakhs and combined with the total from Pondicherry's theaters, VVS has managed 44 lakhs, which is seen as a very good amount. Five Star Films have distributed the movie in Pondicherry and South Arcot circuits.

Coimbatore, Erode, Tiruppur and Ooty - ''A total of 60 screens are showing VVS in these circuits and the response to the movie is akin to what an Ajith or Vijay movie generally gets. The occupancy for the movie is around the 75% mark and there is a lot of repeat audience for the movie with fans totally enjoying themselves during the dance sequences. The total collection is close to 1 crore already and there was a heavy rush on Monday in Central Cinemas, Coimbatore resulting in a traffic jam in the vicinity'', says Cosmo Pictures Shiva.

Salem - Kasturi Films have released the movie in 45 screens in this circuit and Mr. Ashok Samraj, the proprietor of Kasturi Films is happy with the response to the movie.

Trichy - Narayana Swamy of Green Screen has released the movie in 28 screens in this circuit and he says that the occupancy has hovered in the 80 to 90 % range.
