Besharam termed an EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT

After wowing the entire nation with his performances in well-received movies such as Rockstar, Barfi and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ranbir Kapoor was seen as the next big superstar in waiting and the hopes surrounding his October 2 release, Besharam were huge. The 1st day netted an impressive 21.56 crores thanks to the biggest domestic release till date (3600 screens), Ranbir's huge popularity and the marketing buzz.

But, after negative reviews from most of the audiences and critics alike, the film's collections nosedived at a record pace and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th days netted a really dismal 7.13, 5.68 and 5.94 crores respectively. As we can see, the fall has been huge by any estimates, and even the first Saturday didn't see any sort of turnaround in collections. The total net after 4 days now stands at 40.31 crores and a leading Bollywood trade analyst calls it an EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT.

The future doesn't hold much promise for Besharam as Akshay Kumar's Boss releases on October 16 while existing releases such as Grand Masti and The Lunchbox are still managing to attract some footfalls. Grand Masti has in fact breached the 100 crores net mark, thereby becoming the first adult movie to reach the century mark.
