Interview Team : Sudharshan; Avudaiappan; Jeevakaran; Hemananth

Two days after receiving her first Behindwoods Gold Medal for Best Actress – Debut category, the sparkling lady, Shivada Nair spends a few ecstatic minutes chatting with Sudharshan Giridhar on the award and her movies.

How’s the show industry treating you?

Like a queen!!! (beams) They are showering me with all the love support and more importantly, opportunities. I wanted to be choosy when I started. That’s why I had been stingy in signing agreements post Nedunchalai. But lately, it turns out I almost like all the projects coming my way.

Right now I have three Tamil and one Malayalam projects in my pocket – One with director Rajan Madhav (Muran and Ula fame), Vallavanukku Vallavan with Bobby Simha and another one which I’ll announce very soon.

With all that, I’m packed for another year.

I’m packed for another year

From a simple Trichy born girl to an anchor, to an actress… Was it the passion, or were you just too good at these things?

I wouldn’t say it was the passion. I was lucky enough to come across the right opportunity at the right time. All I did was hold on to those tight. Once I got into acting, I started enjoying it and made it my passion.

Your first film in Tamil, though didn’t do great businesswise, it gave you a lot of big recognition…

Nedunchalai is very close to me, for all obvious reasons. Whatever I’m today, Nedunchalai had been the place it all began and for that I’m extremely thankful to director Krishna

“Those who don't believe in magic will never find it”… Very interesting quote for a WhatsApp status!

Yeah… It’s a Roald Dahl! For some reason I could connect with that quote. Every new day is filled with opportunities and surprises. All we must do is look for those and grab them! That’s the magic life offers us.

What was your first reaction when you were told that you had won the BW Gold for best actress – Debut? How did it feel receiving it from a veteran actress?

It was bonus for me! A gift from God for doing a good job with the opportunity (Nedunchalai) given to me… I believe that Behindwoods Gold is a reward for my dedication.

Getting the award from Mrs. Poornima Bhagyaraj was yet another honour! I remember my young years when my mother used to mention that Mrs. Poornima's peak was the Golden Period of Tamil Cinema.

Thanks to Behindwoods for being very thoughtful in choosing the presenter so well! I’ll cherish this Gold throughout!

Behindwoods has also been very supporting since the beginning of my career! Thanks for that!

I’ll cherish this Gold throughout!

What did you like the most about Behindwoods Gold Medals 2014?

Mr. Kamal Haasan's section hands down. The stage was heavenly while he was there along with the other legends.

There were also so many celebrities, who I hold in highest respects, in the audience! You don't get to see all of them at once.

Let’s talk about Zero…

If you are looking for a quality, serious thriller, Zero is your answer. Don't come looking for comedy… That’s not what zero is. It’s an intense, scary tale.

I play Priya, a modern age house wife with traditional ideologies and western outlooks.

In a line..

Ashwin: Cute, supportive and fun to work with... He is what you call a Chamathu Payyan!

Director: Genius, dedicated and has a clear cut conviction.
