The Army on Tuesday said that around 17 Indian soldiers who were “critically injured” passed away in addition to one Officer and two soldiers who had died earlier.

The troops died "in the line of duty at the stand-off location and exposed to sub-zero temperatures in the high altitude terrain ... taking the total that were killed in action to 20", the statement said. This has been the deadliest clash between both the countries in decades, reported Aljazeera. As the tension flares, army officers and diplomats have been holding meetings to rest the tension.

The Indian officials say that the Chinese soldiers crossed the boundary at three points, and went on to ignore verbal warnings to leave. This had further triggered the fight.

Meanwhile, China has accused India of crossing the border. Their Spokesman Zhao Lijian said, “We again solemnly request that India follows the relevant attitude and restrains its front line troops.” “Do not cross the border, do not provoke trouble, do not take any unilateral action that would complicate the border situation.”
