A train that was parked in a yard at Arakkonam station derailed on its own on Sunday. Officials claim that there was a gap in the rail. The train moved for about 500 meters on the newly laid track between Arakkonam junction and Thiruvallur.The derailment reportedly disturbed the signal along the upline causing three express trains to be detained at various spots until the signal was restored.
