The Phase 2 elections are being held today as various states go into election for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Elections are being held on the same day for all constituencies in Tamil Nadu except for Vellore, which has been cancelled by the Election Commission on Tuesday.

Voter turnout record in TN till 3 PM

The voter turnout record in Tamil Nadu at 3 PM is 52.02 percent. The least being Chennai Central, which has a 45.65 percent. It is Dhayanidhi Maran of DMK versus Sam Paul of PMK in Chennai Central with Dhayanidhi Maran having contested in the same constituency earlier. The debutant is contesting against the seasoned politician.

The highest is in Karur. Over all, the voter turnout is considered to be low compared to the previous elections so far. Voter turnout for all constituencies till 3 PM is as follows:
Tiruvallur – 52.96%, Chennai North – 48.53%, Chennai South – 47.60%, Chennai Central – 45.65%, Sriperumbudur – 49.58%, Kancheepuram – 51.63%, Arakkonam – 54.18%, Krishnagiri – 52.74%, Dharmapuri – 52.98%, Tiruvannamalai – 53.28%, Arani – 54.57%, Viluppuram – 53.97%, Kallakurichi – 55.22%, Salem – 53.82%, Namakkal – 53.50%, Erode – 55.59%, Tiruppur – 51.15%, Nilgiris – 52.94%, Coimbatore – 50.14%, Pollachi – 52.70%, Dindigul – 51.26%, Karur – 56.85%, Tiruchirappalli – 52.86%, Perambulur – 51.46%, Cuddalore – 52.26%, Chidamabram – 54.90%, Mayiladuthurai – 51.47%, Nagapattinam – 54.57%, Thanjavur – 52.35%, Sivaganga – 52.65%, Theni – 54.25%, Virudhunagar – 52.87%, Ramanathapuram – 52.03%, Thoothukkudi – 51.47%, Tenkasi – 53.85%, Tirunelveli – 52.08%, Kanniyakumari – 46.74% and Madurai – 47.10%.

The overall voter turnout for the 18 assembly bye elections was 55.97% till 3 PM. The highest being Harur with 64.88% and the least being Periyakulam with 36.42% only.
