The Phase 2 elections are being held today as various states go into election for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Elections are being held on the same day for all constituencies in Tamil Nadu except for Vellore, which has been cancelled by the Election Commission on Tuesday.

Voter turnout record at 5PM in TN

The voter record in Tamil Nadu for Lok Sabha elections till 5 PM is 63.73%. The highest being Chidambaram with a 70.73% and the lowest being Kanyakumari, 55.07%.

At 3 PM, Kanyakumari had 46.74% and Chidambaram had 54.90%. Vasanth & Co owner, Vasanthakumar of Congress and Ponn Radhakrishnan of BJP are competing against eachother and it is one of the toughest battles in Tamil Nadu.

Chidambaram, which has recorded the highest, had agitation later this afternoon and the situation was tense.

Voter turnout for all constituencies till 5 PM is as follows: Tiruvallur – 64.08%, Chennai North – 59.00%, Chennai South – 56.71%, Chennai Central – 55.74%, Sriperumbudur – 58.53%, Kancheepuram – 62.56%, Arakkonam – 66.27%, Krishnagiri – 65.34%, Dharmapuri – 67.67%, Tiruvannamalai – 65.00%, Arani – 76.49%, Viluppuram – 66.52%, Kallakurichi – 69.42%, Salem – 66.18%, Namakkal – 65.92%, Erode – 66.84%, Tiruppur – 60.00%, Nilgiris – 64.49%, Coimbatore – 59.98%, Pollachi – 63.17%, Dindigul – 62.60%, Karur – 68.52%, Tiruchirappalli – 64.22%, Perambulur – 67.02%, Cuddalore – 65.82%, Chidamabram – 70.73%, Mayiladuthurai – 63.94%, Nagapattinam – 69.21%, Thanjavur – 66.69%, Sivaganga – 63.78%, Theni – 68.54%, Virudhunagar – 64.50%, Ramanathapuram – 63.66%, Thoothukkudi – 62.66%, Tenkasi – 65.99%, Tirunelveli – 62.65%, Kanyakumari – 55.07% and Madurai – 55.22%.


The overall voter turnout for the 18 assembly bye elections was 67.08% till 5 PM. The highest being Harur with 79.91% and the least being Periyakulam with 51.44% only. Poonamalle – 73.78%, Perambur – 59.45%, Thiruporur – 74.88%, Sholingur – 74.36%, Gudiyatham – 73.14%, Ambur – 74.40%, Hosur – 66.60%, Pappireddipatti – 70.60%, Harur – 79.91%, Nilakottai – 78.12%, Thiruvarur – 71.31%, Tanjavur – 63.40%, Manamadurai – 60.29%, Andipatti – 65.37%, Periyakulam – 51.44%, Sattur – 74.45%, Paramakkudi – 62.06% and Vilathikulam – 62.34%
