A 40-year-old man who had travelled from Chennai to Puducherry, reached his relative’s place. However, upon arrival his health condition has worsened and he fell unconscious after a sudden heart stroke. He was rushed to the government hospital but was declared brought dead.

Since the deceased had travelled from Chennai, the health care officials ran corona tests. Upon the arrival of a positive test result, the dead body was completely wrapped in sheets. The relatives tried to seek permission to send the body to Chennai for last rights; but were denied by the authorities.

Unable to perform last rights, the officials instructed to bury the body in Puducherry. The relatives were not allowed while burying. In a shocking video, sanitary workers wearing Personal Protective Equipment, can be seen carrying the dead body from the ambulance, and recklessly throwing it into the 20-feet-deep pit.

This has caused mass panic among the public. Denying last rights is due to the fear of further spread. However, throwing the body the way the workers did in the video has been a disturbing sight.
